DESTINY
Large topic – Lifetime event.
Let me go ahead and give you the answer to this lesson; Destiny is Heaven.
But destiny is all weaved through our lives. It takes a lifetime. Since heaven is our ultimate destiny then getting there is the goal. How do we get there?
Now that is the simple part: John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you sincerely believe that, then you are good to go. People process feelings differently (long term or short term) but you will your “sincerely”. To be sure start doing Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. There will be a desire in your heart to tell others about Him and you will believe what the Bible says about Jesus.
Now for the lifetime event. We live out destiny. The Bible is a good guidebook for living toward our destiny here on earth.
Destiny is measured here on Earth as accomplishment; Did you invent something, reach a goal, just live a good life, etc. These things are the main thinks mentioned at your memorial service. Earthly destiny is more like your legacy.
Destiny is Heaven or Hell. Clearly this is what the Bible teaches. Only after we get there will we find out how much our earthly destinies counted. In Revelations it does say all our deeds are written in a Book. (Rev. 20:12)
Here is what I have discovered: Live toward your heavenly destiny and the earthly destiny will turn out to your favor. This supports one of my favorite verses, Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Live for the glory of our Father in heaven. The few glimpses we do have of heaven, they are filled with Praise unto Him. Praising Him on Earth being heavenly minded.
